Vision

Journal of HCI Vistas is an Indian e-publication, where the user experience designers, interaction designers and usability practitioners are encouraged to write and publish short articles. It is a formal medium for them to share their original insights and experiences during professional practice.

Journal of HCI Vistas presents insights into various multi-disciplinary aspects of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience through brief articles and research papers. It is meant to encourage and support the community.

I have observed that people write brilliant things while discussing as part of e-mail groups but such communication remains spontaneous and inarticulate. As a result, it vanishes in the noise of e-mails from other respondents and multiple threads of discussions. It simply evaporates in the cyberspace! Therefore, it is felt that you write articles for HCI Vistas.  It will have domestic as well as international readership.

To reinforce this possibility further, HCI-Vistas-Global YahooGroup is created. The purpose behind this initiative is to encourage dialogue between Industry, Academia and Research domains across the globe. The spirit of this group is to become truly multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and multi-national. The vision is to emerge as complementing and competent force.

The Indian HCI / UX design community at large does not have access to international journals published in the developed countries. HCI Vistas is envisioned to fill up this vacuum as a humble beginning. I strongly believe that this will help in cross-pollination of ideas across domains, knowledge sharing, and finally moving up the value chain.

As it is just the beginning, there is no insistence on research-intensive articles or scientific rigor. Though this initiative is expected to rise to that level in near future. I appeal to all usability practitioners to contribute useful and insightful articles and take full advantage of this opportunity.
Many of you must be wondering, why am I doing this?

It is to honour, support and encouarge the ‘Live & Die HCI’ spirit of the community!

So what are you waiting for?
